I am doing a series of letters on the economic problems a new president will face. Notably, India is actually becoming a bright spot. I think it is going to be more than a few years before they can become an engine of global growth like China has been, but India under Modi is moving in the right direction so far. Infrastructure is getting built, corruption is being dealt with, and things are getting streamlined. They still haven't had the total land and labor and business reforms that Modi promised, but he is a long way from finished. This is a short piece on India from my friends that Gavekal.
