Normally mere news does not make OMS, but this short note is significant and self-explanatory. Illinois is in the place of needing to pass a bill that is against their constitution (maybe) in order to create a stop-gap solution to their pension funding problem. The problem is now, not in 2-3 years – no more can kicking. And they are just the first in a long lineup of jurisdictions with unsustainable pension promises.
