Over My Shoulder

Paul Kasriel: The 2014 Festivus Airing of Grievances

December 22, 2014

Paul Kasriel was one of my go-to guys for a decade when he was writing every week at Northern Trust, prior to his retirement. He is a curious blend of economic schools and thinking, and thus he always has something provocative to say. Lately he has begun to write occasionally for his own blog. This is his end-of-the-year blog post where he responds to readers, with a little humor thrown in, in the vein of the teaching gene that he seems to have. About two-thirds of the way down (it's a short piece) are a few paragraphs that are true gems on income redistribution, saving and spending, and why the prevalent thinking among so many mainstream economists is wrong. Enjoy.
