Joan McCullough gives us a history lesson about the weather and the economy. It's particularly memorable to me, as I was in that snowstorm in 1996 in NYC, and the drifts were 4 feet at what was then the Plaza Hotel. There are worse places to be stranded, I am sure. Though hardly more expensive – or at least it felt that way at the time!

The point? All these excuses involving the weather? Just shows how far we’ve gone downhill…
