From the Desk of John Mauldin

John Mauldin

Friends,

I want to invite you to go with me on the ultimate bucket list fishing trip. For the past two years, I have gone to the West Coast Fishing Club, a five-star resort with some of the best fishing in the world for salmon, halibut, and cod. The club is at the far northwest corner of British Columbia, and when you’re fishing you can actually see the southern islands of Alaska. The club is situated on the “stream” for salmon and halibut as they migrate. You should catch Chinook and coho salmon (plus halibut and cod). The resort is first class and the food is over the top. Basically, you get to Vancouver, get up the next morning and fly to the northwest, and then catch a helicopter to the island where the resort is. It is very coordinated and smooth. For those of you who haven’t been with me on a fishing trip like this, it is hard to imagine the luxury. Details are below and there is a link to the website.

It is about $6,000 US dollars plus tips. All you have to do is fly yourself to Vancouver and everything is taken care of after that. I will be trying to fish with as many of my guests as possible, and switch tables at breakfast and dinner. I will want to spend time with all of you! They use 22- and 27-foot Boston whalers, and the larger ones can take 3 guests plus the guide. We have limited spaces reserved but can only hold them for a few weeks. Two-thirds of the people who came last year are coming back, which is the best testimonial. If you're interested in coming, simply email business@2000wave.com (which is my assistant Tammi) and we will put you on the list.  What could be better? Catching trophy fish with like-minded friends. This will truly be a trip that you will remember for a long time. By the way, you can have your fish smoked and prepared and sent to you.

Rave reviews from those who joined us last year:

I just wanted to share how much I enjoyed my recent fishing trip! The guides were like the fish whisperers—so knowledgeable and made the days truly memorable!

And a huge shoutout to the staff at the Club House! They were fantastic! They created such a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that it felt like I was hanging out with old friends, which definitely made the whole experience one for the books!

It was a reel-y memorable experience—Thanks again for such a great time!!

It was one of the best fishing trips I have ever had! The food, service people, and guides were the best. Having John Mauldin there and other people to talk to with like interests added to the excitement.

Yes, if John has another trip, my son and I will be there.

Count me in! What a fabulous experience! I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such a rare combination of remote wilderness and luxury! You and your staff are beyond compare. I especially enjoyed Grant and our guides, Matt, Mike, and Paul. Hope to see you again next year!

I really enjoyed the experience at the Clubhouse. Count me in next year!

Brenda and I had a great time. The fishing was awesome as was the WCFC food. We have stayed in some other high-end resorts, but I have to say never have we experienced service as outstanding as we did from all staff at WCFC. They are obviously very well trained and enjoying their jobs, friendly and always going the extra mile.

I really do hope you can join me. When we firm up the list, we will likely do a Zoom call or two to let everyone meet each other. Shane and I will get into Vancouver a day early so that we can greet you when you get there. Basically, you stay at the Fairmont at the Vancouver airport. That will start your trip of eating well with friends.

All the best and look at the dates and details below and feel free to ask me any questions.
